GET INPUT. DEVELOPE OUTPUT.                                                               What is going on with the U.S. Congress. Bolivia is a very critical nation to the defense of the Americas. Who controls Bolivia controls all of South America with one Gatlin gun. I have been in Bolivia four times this past decade. I was in Bolivia in June 2005 when the petrol demonstrations and foreign visitors were not permitted to leave least they try they be beaten by the rubber belts that run old car water pumps. When the back porch of the president was dynamited and he resigned from office subsequently. Much dynamite. Saw no guns but news photos of many guns in high side board trucks. I had flown up from another Bolivia city at a lower elevation east. I stayed at the old Peace Corps hotel on the Parque San Pedro a few blocks removed from the central avenue El Prado. This hotel also called the San Pedro although there are more than one San Pedro in La Paz. It was not planned that way but one night was rather peacefull as is usually ordinary on the parque San Pedro where it was becoming particularly noisy at that time with people envisioning tall towers covering La Paz with revolving multi colored lights and Bolivian hard rock music 24 hours a day. That is not Bolivian. Then that morning I woke up to find the Pueblo with their banners of Jesus and Che staging on the Parque San Pedro very well disciplined and organized not at all noisy and peacefull although I watched having a hair cut taxi cab scab drivers pulled out and beaten with rubber radiator belts. They had to stay out of the Parque San Pedro area. And those were very convincing. The demonstrations were well organized on central avenue El Prado with some small charges kicking up dust to symbolize larger charges. It was not a problem really. I sat in the central park strip in between one side of avenue El Prado and the other side enjoying my zarzamora ice cream from the famous Dumbos restaurant outside counter. The biggest problem was getting out of Bolivia as American Airlines had stopped its flights in and out of the 13,300 feet John Kennedy Al Alto airport on the higher side of La Paz. On an inspiration I walked down to the U.S. Embassy to see if I could mooch a free ticket with an older Bolivian woman and older Bolivian male guard at the gate. She was visably upset by the demonstrations. I learned the Embassy staff had been evacuated to Cochabamba, Bolivia I think she said. And I subsequently learned any US military personnel had also been evacuated for their protection - although they needed none. The Israel embassy would flatly not help Israel visitors to La Paz as they ignored the Israel warning to evacuate before the Pueblo came. The Israel people rented a safe house and hired guards wasting a lot of money as they were in no danger. But they did not know that. And in a few days demonstrations in Israel brought help to them from the peeved Israel government. Taca airlines had taken over the America Airlines office and sold me a ticket to Lima Peru. The problem was getting to the Airport as the roads were set on fire and manned by the Pueblo. Then in a few days the profit motive took over and at 3:00 A.M. I slipped out to the airport for tolls paid along places on the roads on fire. I understand some tried to make it to the Peru border by taxi along back roads no tolls in place but did not make it. The rubber water pump belts hurt, Some did. I flew from the John Kennedy airport on the high side of La Paz Bolivia to Lima, Peru then on to Miami. None the worst for wear. I question however what I had learned true or false of US military personnel being given special protection, and the embassy staff, when none was offered US visitors in La Paz - although there was no danger to any. I just read the U.S. Congress voted 405 to 5 against sending US troops into Libya with a special solitary clause and special condition the U.S. would send troops into Libya to evacuate any, even one, US military soldier by some reason there. Then what about U.S. people in Libya who did not leave because of dedication to their critical professions example as to the health of Libyans. They are heroes where the US military person may be just doing the job he is paid for. He is not hero. When I was in the service the US military worked for the civilian population not the other way around. It is probably the case that Libya is a good country and those U.S. persons who stayed because of dedication were in no danger. On a tangent the case is if the U.S. military generals and colonels were more competent they would take over the U.S. right now not working for the american people?
