This is the first and earliest coin of the Vatican minted 774 A.D. when
Adrian 1st was Pope, the Vatican mint being under the protection of Charlemaigne. I purchased it for $10.00 at the
Antigua Guatemala Zocalo and it has almost that much gold value in it as it was minted with raw unrefined copper ore rich
in gold. I do not know how it was valued at the time of mint. There are bag marks on it so a lot were minted. I
had it disked across from my hotel the Posada Dona Angelina before donating it to the San Francisco Mission of Antigua, Guatemala where
I thought it should belong. Many will be found cemented into the walls of churches and buildings for protection such
as have been reduced later to rubble by the earthquakes of Antigua, Guatemala or by age, or other catholic cities
throughout the world. Perhaps it was given to Bernal Diaz Del Castillo on a visit to Spain and he donated it to
an Antigua church now in ruins. Probably a lot of these first mint coins will be found in the Antigua rubble if it were
sifted. Probably a lot have already been found. It is a historic Coin of Jesus who appears as the Pelican on the coin
lifting up serpents for mercinary use by Charlemaigne. And the cannon appears on the coin. Bernal Diaz writes in The
Conquest of Mexico he had after the settlement of Mexico time to read Josephus. Josephus was very enthusiastic about
the cannon of the Roman General Vespatian. He writes his cannon ball if shot high on the wall and hit
a mans head could knock the head a couple hundred of yards into the city. It is not known if it was the air cannon developed
by the Greeks 200 years before Jesus because of erratic fast burning powder that blew up metal or Vespacian had an improved
powder. Pope Adrian 1 appears on the coin with a Mongol officer hair style. He was partly of Avar Mongol descent and
is believed to have seen military battle when young. He was a close friend of Charlemaigne and Charlemaigne was his protector
and protector of the Church.
