(I donated this coin to the San Francisco Church of Antigua Guatemala. It is not my first donation as I donated to the Antigua Guatemala public library an in very good condition hard cover english translation of THE CONQUEST OF MEXICO by Bernal Diaz del Castillo. This book rests today in the Antigua, Guatemala public library. I paid $40.00 for it. It is transcribed word for word (without a mistake) from the original Bernal Diaz Spanish pen a copy of which the city of Antigua Guatemala has in its public possession in a historical room. Word for word perfectly as the transcription was made just a few years before the England-United States WAR OF 1812 in which England wanted to retake the United States which it had lost But which second venture did not end successfully. The reason for the perfect transcription word by word is that Hernan Cortes had lost Mexico City but was able to retake it on a second venture. That is, the book I donated to the Antigua Guatemala public library was transcribed from the original Spanish of Bernal Diaz as part of a military venture of education on the part of England in retaking the United States. Which failed.                                             I handed this Vatican minted 772 A.D coin as a donation to the San Francisco church of Antigua Guatemala the afternoon of the following day after purchasing it and putting it on CD. Handing it to padre Demetri at the altar at the end of Mass who said it would be added to the San Francisco Church of Antigua, Guatemala museum. I was looking for Spanish reals (pieces of eight). These are probably scarce in Guatemala as many made their way to the United States and were legal tender in the United States untill 1857 and untill that time and even after being a very popular currency coin of the United States. Spanish reals were in fact the popular and basic U.S. dollar in earlier United States times untill four years prior to the United States Civil War to free negro slaves. I purchased the coin thinking it was a later time period mintage by a church group in Antigua, Guatemala the old capitol which is where is located the Zocalo and flea market table I purchased it at for $13.00. I believed possibly it might also have been minted in a nearby nation (minted Nicaragua for example by the church). It is actually a genuine coin of the first mintage of the Vatican under Pope Adrian 1 in 772 A.D. the year the first Vatican Mint protected by Charlemagne was put into operation. It will not be a rare coin as first year mints of a particular coin strike a lot of coins. It is a historic coin. Read what I have given on my main page at the bottom of my photos. Donation to the Antigua, Guatemala church museum of the San Francisco Mission church is correct. I paid only 100 Quetzals for it to reiterate ($13.00). The coin is holy. My thoughts September 2009 two months later after purchasing the coin is that someone buried it in a church wall of Antigua, Guatemala considering it holy and protective and so many of these churches have been shaken down in ruins by earthquakes related to volcanic earth plate activity of the three active volcanos Antigua, Guatemala sits at the base of. Someone sleeping in the ruins found it and for a few dollars sold it to the flea market. Where I got mixed up at first was I read 772 on the coin but it was believed the cross in front of it constituted the number 1 making it 1772. It looked older and after securing it in my wallet and then going on line in a search it went into my mind as minted in an earlier Spanish Americas century as a copy of the original Vatican 772 A.D. Pope Adrian 1 mint under the protection of Charlemagne. However the coin is Byzantine minting hot strike an ancient technology gained from India and this made an early Spanish Americas strike impossible. This technology ended with the Byzantine empire. Spanish America did not have it and could not produce it. Thus the coin was minted centuries before the age of such as Guatemalas sixthteenth century Bernal Diaz del Castillo and Pedro Alvarado under Hernan Cortes Conquistador.There were people in early times in the Americas who believed that serpents in the earth caused earth quakes and on this coin the Pelican (symbol of Jesus) has gained control over three serpents. Thus the coin was originally probably placed in the wall of an Antigua, Guatemala church of which many in the city are found shaken down by earthquakes. There is attempt at some restoration which is enormously expensive. People sleep in the ruins. I purchased marks the beginning of the end of the Dark Ages of Europe and the beginning of the start of the Rennaisance (Caroligian). Beginning with this coin minted the year 772 A.D. Charlemagne accomplished what was believed to be the impossible.
